Representatives from the several churches of Charlottesville gather in a Memorial for the victims at the place where a crowd was rammed by a car driver, killing Heather Heyer and injuring 35 others.

James A. Fields Jr., who has voiced racist and pro-Nazi views faces the possibility of life in prison for these events.

The rally occurred amidst the backdrop of controversy generated by the removal of Confederate monuments throughout the country in response to the Charleston church shooting in 2015. The event turned violent after protesters clashed with counter-protesters, which combined with the subsequent vehicle-ramming attack left over 30 injured
